His Mercy

"His Mercies Are New Every Morning"

A Thought

In this life we can not always do great things. But we can do small things with great love.." :) Mother Teresa

Prayer Quote

“I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God- it changes me.”
― C. S. Lewis

I believe in the sun even when it's not shining. I believe in love even when I don't feel it. And I believe in God even when He is silent. (quote found on the wall of a concentration camp)

When all the kids around are Aunts, this is the only hat available. :)

And now, we get cleaned up and watch a movie. :)

A HUGE thank you To Anna for all the help with the babies. :)

The Hutch

We took down the Christmas things today and put them back in the attic. I am SO THANKFUL for all my girls who helped me get it all done in record time!  They went upstairs in the attic to "clean" and "play house", and I played house down stairs. :)

I gave this Hutch to my daughter Em's a few years ago, and now she no longer has room for it. So we brought it home. I sure did miss it!   So it is happily back in the dining room and the dishes are all nestled back where they belong. :)

So nice to begin the New Year Cleaning Phase! :)

And of course, Erika has asked if she can inherit this.

As This Year Comes To A Close....

I have so very much to be thankful for.  I am thankful for my hard working husband. I am thankful for all 8 of our children, 4 daughter's in law, 10 grand children (one in the oven still) and all of our friends and family who have loved on us and supported us this year.

I am thankful to the Lord for His Mercy and Grace in our lives. What an amazing ride we have been on this year.  We have had excitement and heartbreak, joy and sadness,  triumph and tragedy....  and HE has been with us through it all.

We dearly miss Grampa and Gramma and Uncle Jim.  Holidays are so different without them. :(  But we know that they would be very happy that we are carrying on our lives here as we should.
We have met new friends and reunited with old ones.

The joy and richness of life has been palpable.  I love it that there has been change in my heart for the better, and that Miss Alli was able to get deep into my hidden closet of hurts, draw them out and cause me to have to face them.  Thank you Alli! :)

I have much more to face about myself in the coming years, I am sure.

One of the highlights this week was talking to My Dabba; my other mom.  She is 91 and doing OH SO WELL! We are so far apart, but when we talk, it is if we were always talking all along.  She is so dear and special to me.  We easily express our love for each other.  I owe her so very much.

I am Thankful for our church body, where we have only been for 2 1/2 years.  It was a hard decision to change, but it was the right decision.  Our pastor, Justin Wheeler is a fantastic teacher and I have learned so much from him.

I am thankful for those of you in the adoption community that have encouraged us, written comments on the blog and called or written private letters.  THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

As we come upon  2012, we face the unknown, as does everybody!  2011 has not been an easy year, but it has been  a RICH year; not in money but in LOVE.

I honestly cannot believe it is almost 2012!  Miss Alli has been home almost 10 months!  She has a birthday coming up in February, on the same day as Mike. :)

The Lord will give us the grace to go through whatever life throws at us this year.  I am thankful to be a small part of the Body of Christ.

May the Lord Bless You and Keep You and give you a Peaceful, Happy and Prosperous New Year!

And Remember Love NEVER Fails! Never EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER give up! Never EVER, EVER, EVER! :)   Perfect LOVE Casts out all fear!  True Love is Unconditional, or it is not love, it is something else.  Life is pain.... anybody who says different is selling something! :)  KIDS CAN AND DO HEAL FROM TRAUMA! Don't forget to forgive, as you have been forgiven MUCH!
                                                                   Happy New Year!

Something I Adore

I ADORE that our boys love each other so much.  I ADORE that our girls love each other so much, and that our Daughter's In Law love each other so much.  These are the things that make a MaMa happy. :)

Our sons are all visiting together (minus Chuck in NM) and loving each other's company.  Chuck and Jodie would love to be here too.
It reminds me of them when the guys were young.  They were like a pack.  And that is what the girls are like too. A giant pack. :)
The sibling relationship is the longest lasting relationship you will ever have; even longer than the relationship with your parents. It is so important to foster those relationships in our children.

Becca told me that as soon as Sam and Will saw each other, they were off and playing.  Cousins.... so precious.

This is all any mama would ever want for Christmas. :)

Sam and Truman

I got to babysit yesterday for a little while when Becca took the girls out to Starbucks, and to go roller skating. :)
Sam and Truman are so precious.  Sam is amazingly smart! He beat me at Blokus on his first try! Then he asked to play Solitaire on the computer, and he knows how! He is FOUR! LOL
 Somehow, this doesn't fit. LOL

It is fun to get into EVERYTHING! LOL

Sam and the famous "Dabba Dimple".....   (Dabba is my other mom. Several of the kids and grand kids have her dimple.)
 Playing Pinball.

New Year's Resolutions 2012

This year has been a whirlwind of activity.  I did really good on some of my new year's resolutions from last year.  I kept my promise that I will not use paper plates, and we haven't.  :)  I am still gluten free and have learned to cook even more gluten free recipes that are delicious and healthy.

I have had some big fat failures:  Working more in the business, writing and staying away from coke.

I see resolutions as a good thing. If you have nothing to strive towards, you won't strive. :)

So I'm starting my list. I hope to achieve all of it, with the help of the Lord.

My number one resolution after : To spend more time in bible study, reflection and prayer,
is to help out more with the business.
To get the taxes filed early.
To transfer all our mail from the P.O. box to the regular address.
To write and COMPLETE my writing project.
To spend LESS time on social media, and more time being productive.

To exercise at least 3 times a week.
To get at LEAST ONE LOAD OF LAUNDRY COMPLETED each and every day. (that includes folded and put away)  That means, no more rewashing the load I forgot to get out of the washer the night before.
To PLAN and STICK TO a SERIOUS budget.
To write letters to prisoners.
To join in active ministry with orphans.
To start and continue an adoption support group.
To be a better teacher.
Learning more chords on the banjo.
that's the begining....

What are some of yours?

What Success Really Looks Like

This is what it looks like to raise a child who is all over the place in emotional maturity, intellect, physical ability and sensory issues.  It is what it is like to try and understand what emotional level a child can be at, in any given moment. :)  It is what it is like to raise a child who has had trauma.
Complicated?  Oh Yea!  The neat thing though, is that we grow ourselves! We change ourselves, if we are brave enough to see that WE NEED TO CHANGE TOO!
There is HUGE blessing in  raising children, and HUGE blessing in raising children who have been thoroughly touched by trauma.  The big fat squiggly line part, is where many people feel they cannot go on, and disruption occurs.  Keeping one's eye on the end of that arrow, can help those struggling to see that it WILL get better.  Trauma blindsides us sometimes.  We think we are headed straight and then, we go through a roller coaster.  But coming out the other side of that is MORE HEALING, in depth healing that can only be had through the struggle.
So look at the end of the arrow! It is still headed to  success!  Which means something different for each individual family.  But happy, healthy, thriving adults in the future, who are secure and compassionate, forgiving and forgiven, trusting, full of grace and mercy, and striving to reach a newer personal goal, is what I have in mind. :)
Wishing everybody a TRULY Happy and Healing New Year! :)

Christmas 2011

 Such precious moments.

Ivy explaining to Will that the lawn man is NOT Santa Claus! LOL

After a while, Tim, Em, Joey, Chris and Ilse arrived!

Those little boys are so sweet. :)  Isn't Em's just beaming? :)

She and I headed out to the airport and left all the guys in charge.  We arrived right in time. Em's got out and I drove around the airport a couple of times and then just pulled up to the curb to load the MD crew. :)  Oh MY the babies have grown! :)

We called Aunt Judy this a.m. and talked with her on the phone.
And then Becca did Anna's Hair today.  She is going to do some more girl hair soon. :)

 Playing Backgammon... (I won)  :
Uncle Bob had to leave today.... we really enjoyed seeing him.  Joe and Becca left tonight to go and stay at Marcus and Ivy's.  We will see folks off and on for the next 9 days. So excited to have most of us together.
Sure missed seeing Chuck, Jodie, Kate and Lillian, but SO THANKFUL we saw them at Thanksgiving time. :)
Now, off to bed to get some much needed rest. :)

To Be Continued......
